MILLS JACKPOT QUESTION

Postby kcepek » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:45 pm

After un-jamming & cleaning the escalator, I put it & the machine back in the cabinet & after a few pulls of the lever, I won the jackpot. I can't remember if I pulled it again after winning. A lot of nickels came out. How is the jackpot replenished (I don't think there is a reserve)?
Also, how do these machines pay out other than the jackpot?
Thanks a lot, Ken

Well first thing is what machine are we talking about, a mills ,ok but which one? Can we see a photo? If its a hi-top then once the payout tube is full the coins pass the JP on there way to the coin box, pretty much randomly falling into the JP or the coin box. However you say no reserve so perhaps not a hi-top. Some machines have hand filled JP either from the inside or through a removable lock on the front, Golden falls has this and I think golden nugget. As to how do they payout otherwise what exactly do you mean? , where do the coins come from? what amounts dose it pay? how dose the machine decide its a winner? show us a photo and all will be reveled

MILLS NICKEL SLOT HELP

Postby kcepek » Fri Dec 16, 2011 8:22 pm

Hope the photo helps.
1; Can you tell if the machine has a reserve jackpot?
2; how is the empty jackpot normally re-filled, by continually playing or manually by hand thru the back?
3; Other than winning the jackpot itself, do these machines pay out lesser amounts?
4; Besides buying books, is there a website that explains the payout of a nickel slot?
Thanks, Ken
PS; I am helping a friend, & have never seen one before.

ok, the machine is what is usually callled a 'Bursting cherry' and I think the jp is filled semi auto but i might be wrong there as ive never had I myself. the other payouts are clearly listed on the payout card top right and look to be the usual 1.cherry,2 cherry,2 oranges and a bar, 3 oranges etc. If it dose not pay out on these either the coin tube is empty (take out the mech and you can clearly see the tube) or the slides are jammed, dirty or faulty (these are at the bottom of the tube. let me know whats going on and ill try to help, photos of the mech (front might help) a service manual is available on ebay or from mrslot1.com

Thanks for the reply.
Would you say that this machine is a hi-top?
The coin tube is about half full & has kicked out a few coins.
Do the numbers; 20, 18, 18, 14, 14 etc. to the right of the payout card indicate the # of nickels won?
Thanks again for your help.

no this machine is much older, hi-top come along in 1945 ,this is a 1937 bursting cherry brown front, if its original,( there are copies being made even today so without a closer look cant be certain), if original its worth about $1000 here in the UK, perhaps more in the US, yes the numbers and fruits on the right refer to the payouts. did you fix the slug drop problem?

MILLS JACKPOT QUESTION

Postby kcepek » Mon Dec 19, 2011 9:14 am

Yes, I solved the slug drop problem by using epoxy to glue in a small piece of plexiglass & It seems to work fine. I'm still looking for more information on the jackpot. Would like to know the procedure for re-filling it, & whether it indeed does have a reserve jackpot.
Thanks for your help.
