Watling Penny Slot

I am trying to research a recent purchase of mine to see how rare it may be. The machine is a Watling Rol A Tor 1cent machine with front gum vendors. All casting numbers match, it's in wonderful condition, may be unrestored but I'm not certain. Can someone point me in the right direction of what book might reference this machine. The books I have don't speak a lot about Rol A Tor's.

I have a few more questions about some of the other Rollatops I have and a good reference book would be very handy. I have repair books and the general slot book, I'm looking for details. I can post pictures if needed just let me know what one needs to see.

Its a great machine not many made in 1 cent. Might be worth 3 to 5 k in nice working cond. Great Find !!!

The book WATLING SLOT MACHINES OF YESTERYEAR only list the ROL-A-TOR in 1935 then the company was sued by Norge refrigerator for using their ROLLATOR refrigeration name for their slot. Walting then changed the slots to Rol-A-Top in 1936. WALTING OPERATORS COMPANION book by Dan R. Post is the book that you need.

Penny Rol-A-Tops are pretty hard to find. If the vendors have the penny indian head on them then you really have a good machine.

A picture would be great. Please post one.

The previous post said most of it. Because or the name change to Rol-A-Top it makes your machine very early in the series. As you must know condition is most important, that said 75 plus years is a long time for a machine to have survived with nothing done to it. If the machine is complete with all original parts my estimate would be in the 5 to 10 k. which would put it more into the category of museum piece. Great find. T.J.

I will take a few pictures today. It's my second Rol-A-tor both painted exactly the same. Not gloss paint like my other Rol-A-Tops. I will look for Dan Posts book sounds like it what I'm after.

Hopefully the book will give colors too, I have a 50cent Rol-A-Top that is a fantastic deep blue with silver coins and eagle, it's the only one I have ever seen painted in those colors. All of my other Rol-A-Tops are painted like what one usually sees in books, magazines and online.
