I’m a newbie with a passion for mechanical slots. I’m a member of other forums concerning other interests. It appears this forum has gone stale! Why?

I agree with you. I posted a few days ago and have not had even one comment about what I was looking for.

Sometimes things can be slow here but seems to me the place is still an excellent place for information

Agree; although this forum has slowed down with the flood of Facebook groups, this is still a valuable resource for good information.

I do check FB almost daily and will find some good information and examples of interesting machines, however;
IMO: a few of the real experts from here occasionally post on FB, but most of the "experts" on FB often give incorrect or incomplete advice. Most of the incorrect information posted on FB goes uncorrected, whereas here it is mostly set straight promptly. Although you have to give them credit for trying, the "restorations" are often incorrect or poorly done, yet are praised as good examples, perhaps just out of politeness to fellow hobbyists.

I joined a few of those FB pages and then quickly UNJOINED! I couldn't stand the incredible amount of member posting stupid (yes they were stupid) questions. Most seem to want immediate gratification and don't contribute to the group, like the members on this forum do.
I'm becoming more interested in antique slot machines and bought a group of 4 recently but have struggled considerable in just getting information. Luckily I fixed all of them myself but still am in need of some parts and other information such as dates of manufacture, etc. I posted here but have had very few replies. I'll keep trying though.

The search tool on this forum has always come in handy for me, theres is tons of info on different subjects buried in the files of this forum and I hope we never lose this place. Dave has gone above and beyond on what must amount to countless hours he must have invested into the running and upkeep here. Let’s hope it stays around for many a years to come.
Thanks Dave for this forum! Hats off to you!
