Mills Slot machine question.

I purchased this Mills Slot and have been restoring it to working order. Everything has been going good from watching YouTube videos but the one last problem I can't seem to find an answer to is about the glass which shows the jackpot payout. The glass is loose, im not sure if the metal frame is supposed to go in front or behind the glass. Even with the frame other than the guides nothing is holding it in place. Even with the jackpot mechanism in place the glass can be moved. What is supposed to be keeping the glass in place? I see nowhere for clips to hold it, just the casted guides. Please help! Thanks.

Just make sure the glass is 1/4 inch thick.

That was the problem. I ordered the correct glass but rigged up the current piece. Pretty happy with this purchase. I paid $200, it had $33 in old quarters in it. I repaired it which cost less than $20 in random springs and screws. Lots of WD 40. Working like a charm. Not bad for my first machine. Now I have to consider doing a full restore and cleaning all the metal but I've never done any of that kind of stuff but it looks fun.

C3N50R,

For $200 that was a GREAT deal for that machine! Also, as an FYI. WD-40 is a No-No for these machines. Use something more like 3-in-1 and do not use any lube on the payout slides.

Good to know! Any pointers is much appreciated. I have the full thing up and running. Pays out properly, Jack pot and bonus works properly. Every now and again the handle will not pull. I'm not 100% sure why that happens. The coin detector seems right. I pull out the mechanism and put it back in and it works fine after that.

From my personal view your coins look too close together on the coin escalator, this might be the cause of the arm.

Might be work getting it full service

Any photos from the mechanism inside?

The coins were too close in that picture but that was when I brought it home. Since I repaired it the escalator is working as intended. I'll send pics in a few hours.
