Painting a Rol-a-top

One of my next projects is going to be painting the Rol-a-top castings. My question is regarding the coins. Is there already a formula for the tinted lacquer that is currently being used. I would rather not spend the time and extra $ experimenting if someone already has one that works and looks similar to the original process.
