DID MILLS MAKE A VEST POCKET DIME MACHINE?

Postby Marcellous » Mon Jul 03, 2023 10:24 am

I have often wondered if Mills ever made a vest pocket dime machine or even a penny. Did they make them?

VPs were made for 1,5 and 25 cents.
No dime and no upright VPs.

Thanks, nvmos2. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. Very surprised at such a small machine that they made 25 cent models. I have never seen anything for sale other than a nickel machine. I would think quarters would quickly fill up the machine with play.

I've seen couple Dime Vest Pockets in past. Maybe converted from Penny?? Actually Quarter Vest Pockets do fine and don't fill up insides any more than nickel ones do. I have a quarter Chrome Vest Pockets with Jackpot Base. Very rare. Hard to find

Hey, do you have any photos if your vest pocket with a sub base by any change please?

I've got one but they're so uncommon I'll love to see another one

I doubt this is accurate.

What you might have seen:
A machine intended for export and foreign coinage, or
A rebuilt/revamped VP; companies other than Mills were doing these as early as mid-1940s; no telling what they produced, or
More recent dealers/"restorers" having been screwing up slots for decades.

Unless you can provide a contemporary Mills ad, IPB, invoice, etc, the best we can say is:
As far as is known, Mills Novelty did not produce a 10c VP.

It seems a third party made a coin slide so that it takes dimes. The company was A B T Manufacturing Chicago 12 IL marked on the slide. There is also a sleeve in the payout tube for the smaller coin. The payout cam has also been changed. Is such a mod to a Vest Pocket of interest to collectors? A feeling is that it should be changed back to a Nickel with original parts. Any comments?

It 's not working. There are a number of issues. I bought it on an auction site as a Nickel Vest Pocket. It isn't
