Mad Money British slot machine

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some help with a Mad Money machine I recently picked up at auction.

I’ve carried out a few basic checks so far:

I’ve manually tested the pull arm, and once I move the lock out of the way, all the reels spin and line back up correctly, which is great.
I’ve fitted a new power lead, and all the lights are working.
There is a slight hum coming from the internals, but nothing seems obviously wrong.

The issue I’ve run into is when the door is closed and locked. When I insert a coin, it just falls straight through without registering, so I’m suspecting there might be something wrong with the coin gate or possibly a missing part.
I’ve attached a few photos — I’d really appreciate it if someone with more experience could take a look and let me know if there’s anything obvious that might be causing this.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick update — I’ve removed the coin intake assembly (photos attached of the front and back).
Looking at it more closely, I think the issue may be within this part. At the moment, when a coin is inserted it just drops straight down rather than running along the track as it looks like it should.
It seems like the coin isn’t being guided onto the track properly — possibly something missing or out of alignment — but I’m not experienced enough to know exactly what should be there.
Does anything stand out to you from the photos that might explain why the coin isn’t being directed correctly?
Any thoughts or guidance would be much appreciated.

Hi everyone, me again, lol
Quick update on this — I’ve taken the coin intake assembly off and had a closer look (photos attached).
Interestingly, I found a loose screw wedged inside the coin path, which I’ve now removed. Since doing that, I’ve reassembled the unit and manually fed coins along the track, and they now seem to sit and run along it properly.
It does look like the path is now clear, so I’m hoping that might have been the main cause of the coins previously just dropping straight through.
Before I refit everything and test it properly, I just wanted to sanity check with those more experienced — does anything still look obviously wrong or missing from the coin mech in the photos?
Any feedback or thoughts would be much appreciated as always.

Hi All, still no luck with this one arm bandit, would love to get it working, the money doesn't go straight down the reject shoot now so that's a good sign but it doesn't release the pull arm, maybe there is something missing, I did receive this poker thing with the machine but wasn't sure if its part of it or off something else, can anyone help at all ?

Hi,

Frustrating when you don't receive any feedback.

That coin escalator is not an original mills or sega escalator and so quite rare.

Very few people will actually know of this version and even less of those will

either have owned or presently own a machine with one of these fitted. So don't

even have the option of looking at their escalator to try to talk you thru options

or to advise of missing parts on yours when compared to their escalator. So I

don't think people are ignoring you they just feel that they cannot help and/or

certainly not best placed to help you. I owned a machine fitted with this model

of escalator but it was sold many years ago. I think I still have an incomplete

unit somewhere in my boxes of spares.

You have previously pulled the handle avoiding need for escalator and reels spun

OK and you now have coins manually running along escalator and coins not being

rejected. So seems likely it is the interface of escalator and mechanism that's not

in sync? Does the back of the escalator have a coin detector pin/rod same as a mills

Or sega. This rod detects a coin inserted The rod should be adjustable in some way

to move it closer or further from the rear face of inserted coin. If one is fitted that's a

simple adjustment to make to either fix or eliminate as the issue.

The coin detector pin/rod will be attached to the horizontal arm at back of escalator behind the seating position of coin once inserted and seated correctly. That horizontal bar interfaces with vertical lever on mechanism. When handle is pulled, if no coin inserted the rod will not be stopped by a coin and mechanism will be locked out. If coin present and pin/rod is adjusted correctly, it will resist the lever and allow handle to be pulled. Hope that's fairly clear? Incorrect adjustment can also allow
mechanism to be cycled with no coin present so ensure that you don't resolve x1 issue to make another.

I've no idea if this is your issue but if there is an adjustment available it's a quick simple option to try?
