When I see Auctions starting for an extremely low amount and have such a high reserve...I sometimes get the impression that people do this just so they can get an idea of what there machine is worth with no intention of selling it. I am not saying in anyway that this machine was like that, but I can see it happening.

I do like the machine...Very cool idea. For one of my "wish list" machines, I am looking for the Watling 25 cent / 5 cent machines.

ebay has been fiddling with their software;
although this machine is marked Sold, it has been relished with the 99 cent starting price.
This time, however, it has a BIN of $5800;
looks like, as surmised above, the first listing was to get a feel for what it's worth.

The seller even added Watlingboy's comments to the relist.

I think this gentleman is perfectly correct; it was rude and abusive of me to call names like this. (Pretty sure I had too much coffee over the last several afternoons, but that's no excuse.) I've edited down my original posting and will be more careful in framing my comments in the future.

BUT the replies to this thread so far have been among the most interesting I've read in months!

My post was directed to the person who called the guy an 'idiot'. Misinformed? Yes, but we shouldn't be calling each other names because maybe we don't agree on a price or condition of a machine. If you think a machine is overpriced, bad description or whatever, walk away. I only heard one side of the story and that was from the seller and he thought the person he was emailed from was rude, I shouldn't have used the word slammed. I think the seller probably heard the truth about his machine and didn't want to accept it. He was in way too deep on the machine paying $7000.00 for it. He more than likely got his information from the person he bought it from.
On another subject why am I getting a 10 identical emails about this subject?

Setting a reserve on eBay is not cheap so doing that to just get an idea of value would be pricey.

He would be a lot better off just to go to http://www.AntiqueSlotMachinePriceGuide.com (assuming he knew about that site).

It is because you have your notifications set to notify you when anyone responds to a topic.

The email you receive tells you this and also tells you how to change your notifications preferences.

I don't mind receiving an email when it is a new topic or when an existing topic has a new reply, but I am receiving emails with the same topic and the same replies over and over again.
