Reel Disc Question - Mills Deuce Wild

Postby charles_hoop » Tue Jan 22, 2013 3:25 pm

Hello,

I'm restoring a mills wild deuce slot from the 40's. Does anyone know what the correct stock reel discs were for these machines? The ones on my reel bundle have been modified, and I'm having a hard time making sense of them. I know I have two CH reels. I can't remember what the third is right now (I'm at work).

I've cleaned and reassembled the entire mech (including the reel bundle), and the payout isn't quite right. I think it's the alignment of the 2nd disc with the 2nd reel that is off. Jackpot pays correctly, and the second reel only has one bar, but the mech doesn't pay correctly on any other "3 of a kind" combination because the hole in the second disc is not present when necessary. Very strange...

I'm hoping to get a view of the stock reel discs for this machine. That might help me unlock the mystery.

Cheers,

Chad

Cycle the motor, and then put a rag over it so the fan can't turn. That will free the reels. Then, turn the reels until you have the jackpot probe holes all lined up. Remove the rag from on top of the fan, and let it cycle out. When the probe finger goes through all the reels, all the reels are in sync. That's when you can line up the reel strips with ALL the jackpot symbols on the center line, and it should now be capable to paying out correctly at all positions.

If it still doesn't, you need to determine if somebody modified it that way deliberately to cheat on payouts (installed wrong disc?), or if it's a matter of maintenance, or newer coins being too thick, etc.
