Questions about jackpot trip and shut-off lever

Hello,

Could use your help on two questions. Both pertain to a mills high top.

1. I just installed a jackpot trip lever, and I need help getting it to function properly. During the wind-up cycle, as the payout slides are pushed toward the front, the trip lever "sled" (that piece that is designed to hit the peg on the jackpot payout slide) lays down on the top of the payout slide housing. On hitting a jackpot, the jackpot payout slide can't move rearward because it binds on the front of the "sled" on the jackpot trip lever. It's like the sled isn't long enough. Any one else have this problem.

2. I just intalled a coin tub shut-off lever (and associated parts). Can someone describe what the bottom of the lever is supposed to do? I'm refering to the piece that juts out away from the frame and then down. It appears that this may be the way the lever is activated (i.e., the bottom of the lever gets pushed/pulled back, and the top fo the lever swings forward to cover the coin tube). Also, a steel wire came with the lever when I bought it. No idea what this is for. Thoughts?

I figured out the coin tube shut-off lever question I posted. The bottom of the lever had been bent upward so that it no longer touched the back of the jackpot payout slide. Thus it was not being pushed backward when the jackpot was hit. I bent it back, and solved the problem.

Still looking for a solution to the jackpot trip lever. I've stacked 5 dimes on top of the payout slide housing, and that keeps it propped up enough to avoid binding when the jackpot payout slide slides backward. I need a more permanent solution, of course.

Any thoughts here would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with your machine at all, as I only have one machine and it is a Jennings. But if you haven't already seen it, maybe the manual at the link below can give you a bit of help...

I ended up soldering ~1/4" of coat hanger wire to the jackpot trip lever as a prop so that it would not bind against the jackpot payout slide. I'm certain most of you think this is a miserable fix. I agree, but it works. I'd like to fix it the "right" way so if anyone has suggestions, let me know. I'll try to upload a picture.

Another question for the experts... This one is about jackpot glass.

After disabling the jackpot mechanism, a prior owner wedged two pieces of cardboard, a mirrored piece of glass and a spacer between the jackpot mechanism and the front casting. The whole stack of stuff is 1/2" thick. Is this common? As I restore the jackpot mechanism, I definitely want to have the coins visible from outside the machine. I was thinking about going to a craft store to buy a few pieces of 5 1/4" x 3 7/8" glass, and stacking them to 1/2". Any other recommendations on how to replace jackpot glass?

The jackpot trip lever should have a small stop leg doesn't it, at the other (bracket end), maybe if you adjusted this, or bent your bracket back, it would rase your trip lever shoe?

You have the wrong jackpot payout slide. There are two different types of jackpot trips. There is also three different jackpot payout slide. There is one that has an upright pin that is about 1/2 inch long, one that has a pin about an inch long, and one that has a pin for a token trip lever. The jackpot payout slide you need is the one with the short pin that will work with the jackpot trip lever you have. The short pin will allow the slide to slide back and then lift the jackpot trip lever. On machines that have the longer pin on the jackpot slide, the longer pin trips the jackpot because the lever you have on your machine now is not used. The type of jackpot trip you have has to matchup with the type of jackpot payout silde you have. Hope this helps
