Mills Futurity

Just saw item #251249762268 on Ebay. Looks like a nice machine but a couple things caught my eye. Back door appears to be for a Jenning's machine. Seller states, "it's an old Mills door... will need to be cut down or adjusted to fit". Also, the machine is missing the indicator arm and number sequence on the front which indicates the number of pulls. Looks like the area was filled in with a piece of cardboard and painted to match the front(see photos of inside of cabinet). Seller doesn't mention anything about the missing parts.

This machine may have been Nice when it was in it's original condition. But not the Original Condition that the seller states it is in now. This seller has been dealing with coin-op items long enough to know full-well what he is peddling.
Good eye iceman ............ ................The special Futurity mechanism is completely missing from the top casting, and a piece of painted cardstock to fill the void. The operating levers are also missing from the main mechanism.
As anyone with a good eye can see, the machine has been repainted. That back door, "that ONLY has to be cut down to fit", will take a bit more that just trimming. It is from a Jennings machine, and is nowhere close to fitting. Why some
sellers have to continually paint their descriptions with a bunch of B.S., to take advantage of the novice buyers, is beyond me. It will cost nearly half the asking price of the machine, to find all the missing parts, to make this machine
whole again.

I sent the seller an email informing him of the missing Futurity mechanism and the Jenning's door. He responded with the following: "Thanks updated the listing and lowered the price". Thought it was honorable of the seller to acknowledge the issues with the machine and update his listing accordingly.

I sent him a note as well, but he didn't answer me as yet. It's rare that people respond kindly, and actually do something about their listings.
I have recieved replies in the past, thanking me for the info. But that happens once out of twenty. I used to drop alot of notes to people with
the repro War Eagles, and Nuggets, but that's a loosing battle. Most insist that Grandpa had it in his attic for 50 or more years. Yeah, and the
new paint job, cabinet refinish, and new decals stayed well preserved in that dust-free attic!

I was surprised to receive a response at all and even more surprised that he actually revised his listing. Apparently there are still people out there with integrity despite my pessimistic views to the contrary. As you say SD, most people don't like the flaws and shortcomings of their machines to be pointed out and will defend their claims of "authenticity" no matter what.
