PUH-LEASE READ WHAT IS WRITTEN... AS IT IS WRITTEN!
NO ONE is telling you your machine is a fake.
what you ARE being told, is that it has parts (yes, original mils parts) that are not original to your machine as it left the factory.
somewhere along the line... and not at the mills factory... the front casting, and, the handle have been replaced. probably by an operator, at which time, the machine was repainted.

in addition, your machine, and the other one listed, are not identical.
the top castings are different.
your machine has the later OVAL metal reward card.
the 10 cent machine listed by littleshanno has the earlier RECTANGULAR paper reward card with a stamped steel frame holding it on to the upper front casting.
if you do not know what the reward card is... it is the payout chart that shows what you win when hitting certain combinations on the reels.
also, your machine has a later style handle, as opposed to the the flatter handle, which is correct for a castle front.

The 10 cent is older even I can tell that and as I said before the handel probley borke at some point who knows I dont know who played it when before I owned it but both machines have the same bottom from a mills FUTURITY and the top is a castle. I find it great news because having two out there from diffrent times made with same design proves that wasnt some hack job or put togethere from other machines. Yes there are diffrences but go to google type in mills castle and you will find plenty of diffrences to the machines. Just saying folks now there is two and this morn I got a email from anothe one in ca I will get picts and I will send them here to all to see. How many does it take before someone goes wow.

There is only ONE logical answer to all of this 'blown-out-of-proportion-discussion', and it was mentioned above by Midcoast Vintage.
It is an operator creation. Many operators had a habit of changing original machines around to stir up new interest. I have been studying the history of coin machines
for many years, along with our Historical Leader, the late Dick Bueschel, and know for a fact, that this was common practice with operators. I have also spoke with a
few of them personally in the past, and was told about the creations they made. Therefore, even though I can not prove it, this has to be an operator creation, OR
one of our own hobbiests change-overs from the past. IT IS DEFINATELY "NOT A MILLS FACTORY RELEASE". Mills would have never issued a machine that did not have
all of the features in order. I also think that those three guys that fed the seller his info, went by the names of Larry, Curley, and Moe.

'MOM',,,,,,

There you go,,,,lbjteck,,, from Australia - it's upside down for WOW
To reiterate numerous prior posts I too believe you should take on board all that advice. Your machine simply has the wrong bottom casting etc and I don't believe was a factory-issue configuration. This isn't a problem and your machine is a quick fix and would be delightful I'm sure - as a Castle Front.
Presently though is a bit like wearing massive 70's flared pants these days - not right from the belly down [-X

lbjteck wrote:Well it seams someone doesnt like that I wont sell my machine for parts cheap. So here is whats I said to all that has asked. First this machine was custom ordered here in chiccago. It was sold to a bar in Melrose park il. When I was 16 I went to a show and met some guys that used to work for mills. I got a huge history lesson that day. In the city of chicago you were not allowed to own or sell slot machines. Mills was here in chicago there name was mills entertaiment. This machine was sold here in chicago so to make so Mills itself would not get bad feedback they did special orders. All machines made for chicago had chicago lock and key locks no mills sticker was on the side. My machine has the original paint and welcome anyone to come see my machine. The wear is the same throughout if this was a thrown togthere machine you would see wear patterns that didnt match. I have been very honest with all who wrote to me and I will not come down on price nor will I part it out because of the history that I know it has.

The other machine you are referring to on ebay does have the Mills sticker and it also has the Mills lock and key. Mills in Chicago was know as MILLS NOVELTY COMPANY.

I second the motion!
Not even Larry, Curley, or Moe, can penetrate his thick scull.
But they sure convinced him of their cockamamie story. :^o

you know its sad I really loved slot machines and pinball machines but after all this I would never buy another machine. You never know if someone is going to distory your machine for whatever reason and kill the value. What you guys are doing is wrong going after people left and right selling on ebay and other sites as well just tarnishes the whole market, I seen prices go from 4 and 5 grand and now there 1500 and 1600 the others just sit out there. Your killing your own sales for the future my son seen some of these posts and what a crime calling me names because you dont want to open your eyes and ears for just one min. Hard to eplane to a 10 year old good job folks you lost another future sale of your machines. who knows ever if there will be a future for stuff like this if you keep going out there tearing people up so you can get a machone cheap.

I have seen numerous "stories" on ebay that are rather hysterical.

1) Seller had an advertising tray from 1900. In her description she did the usual, great shape for 100 years old. I emailed her and said there was a barcode on the bottom and the tray was a fantasy piece made a few years ago. I received the response that barcodes were around 100 years ago.

2) Seller had a sign on and told a story on how this movie theater closed in the 1930's and was boarded up. He and his friends went in and explored in the 1950's and he pulled this sign off the wall. I emailed him and said the sign was also a fantasy piece made in the 1990's. He said, well the guy he bought it from told him the movie theater story.

3)Last year a Master Fantail sold in a local auction. It immediately went up on Ebay on how it was found in this old Victorian house the seller was restoring and it hidden for years in the basement. I emailed him and asked if he bought the other machine at the auction. He replied blaming his son for the story and he knew he should not have made up the story.

My favorite involves chewing gum wrappers. In the early 1900's if a woman went on a date and her suitor gave her a stick of gum she would save the wrapper and write his name and the date of the date. There was a wrapper on eBay that had a name on it and the Seller had no idea why. I explained to her the story. Her response was it was in a box of stuff from her grandmother and her and her husband then counted over 30 different men's names on the wrapper and even found one for her grandfather. She then confronted her mom on why grandmother had so many suitors. She then got a nice little story on her grandmother and she said they got a chuckle on how wild grandma was.

perhaps YOU should listen to your own advice, and LISTEN.
you are trying to be educated by experts in the field of coin-op history.
NONE of us that are trying to educate you on the reality of your machine are interested in, or trying to buy your machine.
we are trying to give you informed, educated, information, which is based on fact.
as mentioned earlier, we do this because we love machines, we love and care about the hobby of collecting them... to the point that we want CORRECT information out there, so people ... potential future collectors... do not get burned, and have a base of factual knowledge to help, guide, and inform them in their endeavor to build a collection of CORRECT machines.
THIS IS WHY WE TRY TO WEED OUT THE FRAUDSTERS WHO LIST TOTAL REPRODUCTIONS ( NO ONE HERE IS SAYING YOUR MACHINE IS REPRO... WE ALL AGREE IT IS ALL ORIGINAL PARTS... JUST NOT ORIGINAL FROM THE FACTORY AS IT CURRENTLY IS) AND FANTASY MACHINES LIKE THE GOLFER, THE GOLDEN NUGGET, AND OTHER MACHINES WITH "ADD ON KITS". the guys pimping those machines try to pass them off as original... remanufactured from the original molds... using as many original parts as possible... and countless other "CRAFTILY WORDED DISCLAIMERS" .
THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE DESTROYING THE POTENTIAL FUTURE COLLECTORS WHO LOSE INTEREST WHEN THEY FIND OUT THEY GOT BURNED.
the story you ate touting with you machine, is right up there with those guys. your machine is not what you hope / wish / want / were told by 3 former mills employees, or, any other story you can morph the original one into.
if we did not care about the hobby, we would not have taken time out of our lives to try to educate you.
regarding the 3 guys who supposedly were mills employees ... they gave you incorrect information, or whoever it was that told you the chicago lock story... the custom built story... the original paint story... it is all B.S.
LOCKS: mills used the standard mills bell lock all the way up to the high top.
CUSTOM ORDERS: yes they did custom order machines, but yours was not one of them. they never would put those two front castings together, because 1) the do not match; 2) the futurity casting has a window for gold award, and the mechanism in your machine is not set up for gold award.
PAINT: mills paint schemes were very neatly done. the pain on your machine is obviously an operator paint job to ATTEMPT to make it look not mismatched, as the castle front main color is a dark, navy blue, and the futurity main color is orange.
you seem perfectly willing to accept the fact that handle has been replaced with a newer one, as the original one could have worn out, or, been broken...so, why are you so UNWILLING to accept the fact that the same thing could have been done with the front casting?
as you have been told repeatedly... OPERATORS DID WHAT THEY NEEDED TO DO to keep their machines working. a busted up machine sitting in their shop does not bring in revenue.
the machine could have been smashed in a raid by the cops. the machine could have been knocked over during a bar fight, or, by an irate player who did not hit a winning combination. it could have been dropped by the operator or one of his employees.
who knows? i don't. i wasn't there. you weren't there. none of the collectors who have tried to help you were there. the people who have low-balled you weren't there. AND... NEITHER WERE THE THREE CLOWNS THAT FED YOU ALL THAT B.S. .... but you will believe them over people who know for a fact that machine N-E-V-E-R left the mills factory, or, N-E-V-E-R saw the inside of the mills factory in it's current assemblage.
AGAIN... LISTEN TO YOUR OWN ADVICE AND ACTUALLY LISTEN TO WHAT IS BEING TOLD TO YOU BY EXPERTS.
IT IS NOT THE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE THAT HAVE SOURED YOU ON MACHINES... IT IS YOURSELF FOR REFUSING TO ACCEPT FACTS.

does anyone on this site know if tony mills is still alive?
i wonder if he posted here if this guy would finally accept the truth on his machine.
