lbjteck wrote:you know its sad I really loved slot machines and pinball machines but after all this I would never buy another machine. You never know if someone is going to distory your machine for whatever reason and kill the value. What you guys are doing is wrong going after people left and right selling on ebay and other sites as well just tarnishes the whole market, I seen prices go from 4 and 5 grand and now there 1500 and 1600 the others just sit out there. Your killing your own sales for the future my son seen some of these posts and what a crime calling me names because you dont want to open your eyes and ears for just one min. Hard to eplane to a 10 year old good job folks you lost another future sale of your machines. who knows ever if there will be a future for stuff like this if you keep going out there tearing people up so you can get a machone cheap.

So you would rather see people who think their machine is a an original machine not be told and perpetuate the fraud to another person? Please explain why to jr.

You would rather see someone who is selling a complete reproduction machine (but thinks it is original) not be informed and sell the fraudulent machine to someone else? NOTE: YOUR MACHINE IS NOT A REPRODUCTION BUT IT IS ALSO NOT A MACHINE THAT MILLS BUILT. IT IS A MACHINE THAT WAS MADE FROM PARTS OF OTHER MILLS MACHINES. THIS HAS BEEN TOLD TO YOU MANY TIMES BUT YOU JUST DON'T SEEM TO GET IT!! Please explain why to jr.

You would rather not have people educate others about their machine? Please explain why to jr.

It is not the fault of the members of this forum that you didn't buy a machine that Mills actually built. Ever hear the phrase "Don't shoot the messenger"?

Let's put it in another context. Let's say jr. was about to buy something and someone knew there were serious issues with the item. I guess you wouldn't want jr. to be told. Please explain why to jr.

As far as you not buying or selling machines I wish more people who misrepresent their machines would also quit doing so. The hobby would be much better off.

Oh, and what machine has gone from a value of $4,000 - $5,000 to $1,500. Please name just one slot machine that has depreciated that much! Are you implying that your machine was once worth $4,000? If you paid $4,000 (or more) for that machine then you got taken to the cleaners.

If you can't provide an answer it is just more proof to jr. about how knowledgeable you are on slots.

This guy is just to thick headed, just will not accept the fact that slots were altered by operators in the past some with cheats, disabled jack pots, blocked off reel disks and patch over reel strips, mills would not have built slots like that nor did they build slots with mismatched castings, the two examples on ebay right now is just a coincidence that they are both listed at the same time with the castle futurity castings, look at ended listing item number # 321084320113, now do you think that was a custom order as well? at least that seller was honest and accepted the fact that it was a mismatched slot and did have the question answer about it for bidders to read, also look at the realistic price that machine sold for.
If you were an honest person you would at the very least change your add stating that there is doubt about the origin of the slot and let bidders make their own decision, your listing is very deceiving, also you mention your slot is all original untouched except for the handle? An other part to mention is the wooden skids under the base are way to close together, look at any original mills slot and you will see that they are mills put them much further apart, let's see a picture of the bottom of the cabinet to see the witness marks of were the skids used to be, or are you trying to say that they are put there by mills as part of the custom order?
Besides the fact that your slot has been listed for so long and still has not sold says it all, nobody is buying your story.

I have looked and I can't find an example of slot machines going from $4,000 to $1,500. You appear to be an expert please provide just one example of a machine that has shown such a decline.

You also did not address any of the other questions or statements in my post. I guess you would rather just let the uninformed purchase misrepresented machines. [-X

lbjteck:
Thank you for joining the discussion on this forum.
It has been interesting.
Don’t go away mad at the other contributors on this topic.
What you think are personal attacks on you is really just a high degree of frustration with your refusal to accept the plain, simple, obvious truth that your machine is not a “special build” by Mills.
It is a composite machine put together after it left the Mills factory and it was made out of parts from at least 3 machines.
I know it is hard to admit when we are wrong.
You listed this machine at least 4 other times with no bids before this discussion got started. That alone should tell you it is not worth your starting bid.
If you continue to list it with the misleading description and high starting bid, you may get lucky and find a gullible buyer who knows nothing about old slots and what they are worth.
If that happens, you will have done more harm to this hobby than anyone else in this discussion has ever done.

Great post! When I first saw the clip, I laughed out loud.
It turned out a lot more appropriate than I thought.
I too enjoy these discussions especially when they get lively.
But, more important, because a lot of good info comes out.
This discussion has a lot of good history and tips to use when evaluating a machine and could be very helpful, especially for any newbie that has been following it.

other contributors;
Good job in persevering in the face of an acute case of denial.
I actually think you are showing a great deal of restraint in remaining civil during this discussion.

I'm far from an expert. But I've been reading these forums for long enough now to anticipate the "discussion" that was about to erupt . . .

the machine has been re-listed... again, with the same wording.
seller refuses to accept facts from the experts, and makes the same b.s. claims of originality.

And he also raised the price, what makes him think that if the machine did not sell before at $1410.00 that he can raise the price $1000.00 and sell it?
This guy is off his rocker!

I wonder how much this guy has spent on eBay fees trying to sell this thing.

If he ever does manage to sell it and the buyer finds these articles I would think the seller could exercise the eBay "buyer protection" plan and demand his/her money back and doesn't the seller also have to reimburse all shipping fees?

If the eBay buyer protection plan had expired he could always sue the guy. It wouldn't be the first time a lawsuit was filed over a coin-op item listed on eBay.

I previously posted one of the negative feedbacks on this guy. In addition, he has another one. In both cases the buyers who left the negative feedback had a lot more positive feedback than this guy. Just more confirmation on what we already know.

I didn't notice that the new price was $2,400

Well, he probably figured no one who knows anything about slots is going to buy it so the only person that will buy it is some clueless bastard and might as well try to stick the clueless guy for as much as possible. [-X

In addition, if the clueless guy finds out after the fact that he paid way too much and posts a negative feedback well who cares? That is just another negative in the existing list.
