I know Victorian Uprights very well, and have restored more than I can count.
I don't see anything wrong with the machine name in this eBay listing.
It is a totally correct Caille "New Century Puck", sister to the "Detroit".
The price is also in the ballpark for it's condition.

frank jr has it spelled wrong. he has CALLIE instead of CAILLE.

Frank Sr. had a very long and sucessful career selling slot machines. Even though it was pointed out to him, he always spelled the name Callie.

I didn't know him well, but Frank Sr seemed like a good guy.
Looks like Junior inherited Dad's spelling challenge with Caille; maybe it's genetic.
I know there are certain words that I always get wrong no matter how often i look them up.

In a related matter; how is it pronounced?
you often hear even long-time collectors getting it wrong.

Is it:
K-ale
or Kay-lee
or Kay-l-lee
or I'd rather have a Watling?

correct pronunciation is KALE.
common pronuciation is KALEY.
as far as coming down so hard on someone for a misspelled word, and worrying about whether it is genetic, or whatever... i don't feel this forum is the place for such things, nor do i feel it that big of a deal at all.
there are far more intelligent, and, worthwhile subjects to be discussed here.
although, there are a few misspellings that have repeatedly appeared for MANY years.
1) the word is ESCALATOR, not ESCULATOR.
the origin of this common misspelling comes from an ad that pete hansen ran years ago in i believe the antique trader where it was misspelled.
2) for trade stimulators, the name is DAVAL, not DUVAL.
i have seen this mistake repeated many times over the years.
the origin of this one is from an ad larry lubliner ran years ago in the the "COIN SLOT" magazine.
were they typo's by whoever was putting the ad together, or, misspelled by pete and larry in their ad submission? who knows? who cares?

Oh shame on me! I wasn't even looking at the Caille spelling, and I have seen it misspelled by other persons. But, like they say, who cares.
Midcoast Vintage is absolutely correct in the pronunciation of Caille. It is Kale, not Kaylee. Only us senior collectors were versed on this years ago.
Hell, I even say Kaylee most of the time, as some of the newbies would say, "huh", if I said Kale. I got A's & B's in spelling, all the way through school,
but one would never know it now. I may be in the C's now, but sometimes don't even get Kat & Daug right. I think it's time to call a hault to the
spelling bee, and get back to more important things, like musheens.

Nope, I can't agree that spelling the name of the manufacturer incorrectly-- repeatedly, and perhaps even deliberately-- is "no big deal." Years ago I missed bidding on a machine on eBay simply because the seller misspelled the name this way, so it didn't come up in my search results. I found the listing by accident after the auction ended. I've since added the commonest misspellings to my search terms, but I resent having to. After all, the sellers need make no greater effort than simply looking at their own machines to find the correct spelling-- y'all think that's too much to ask of supposedly expert antique dealers? And I have to say, if I ever buy an upright Caille, it sure won't be from anybody who demonstrates that sort of blatant carelessness.

Call it a pet peeve of mine. We collectors can get exercised over all sorts of trivial details, but somehow calling these machines by different names in parts catalogs, in print ads and on eBay is A-OK. I'm not happy with it. I have nothing more to say on the subject.

HOPEFULLY, this thread won't turn into a "urination match", but, i really think you are blowing this W-A-Y out of proportion.
i don't think frank jr. is doing it on purpose, as, he certainly wants the machine to be found, and, sold... so, why would he purposely spell it wrong?
as far as it being done repeatedly... i am sure he just hit the relist item.
if he were aware of the error, i am sure he would correct it.
many people may be experts in one field, or subject, but not real good at another.
some of the geniuses of the world had problems with the simplest things.
does that make them an idiot? NO!
does that make them unqualified to do what they do well? NO!
i think you are exhibiting very closed mindedness here.
so, any bargains you come across on caille uprights... or... any other cool item that you pass on because the seller could not spell or pronounce properly... please email with the information, as i will buy it.
i am more concerned with getting the item than with the sellers spelling ability.
