Jennings Jackpot Questions

Morning everyone,
I just received my 25 cent Jennings Continental. It's a beautiful machine and I think my addiction is now in full swing. Anyway, I only had an hour to send with before going out of town where I still am. I verified a few of the payouts and the jackpot did dump on 3 bars. The machine has 2 separate jackpot amounts-37.50 and 50.00. It doesn't look like that amount of quarters will fit in the JP area so were a set amount hand fed into the JP and the balance of the amount owed paid via the coin tube? Of course this machine could have had its JP paid by the attendant. But that raises another question. On machines that were originally paying JPs via the JP reservoir, wAs this limited to smaller denominations so the coins would all fit or did the coin tube contribute as well?
My machine appears to be missing the 5 JP fingers and the linkage to allow coins to fill the JP which is no big deal but I'd like to get those parts a some point. Last question concerns coins filling the JP by the machine. How did the machine determine when the correct amount of coins were in the JP and the reservoir? It seems that it would be either plus or minus a few coins each time depending on how compactly the coins settled in. Thanks for any info!

To answer the last bit, unless its a hand-load machine once the coin tube is full all further coins are diverted to the jp unit. When both reserve and jp are full the coins simply overflow and head to the cash box.

Thanks Andy. It is a hand load jackpot and I'm pretty sure that's how it was originally manufactured so I'll keep it original.
