Watling Rol-A-Top

Hi, new member here. I have the opportunity to purchase a 10 cent Rol-A-Top and understand that they can be quite valuable. This machine, I was told, is not origional paint and has a replacement back. I've been reading all I can about them and understand the first step is to make sure it's real. I took a few pics and will have another chance to examine it soon. Not sure I can post the pics (they are in my iPhone) but I can email them. Any help or advice you folks can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Well - first the Rol-A-Top is the ultimate sought after antique slot. So you are starting high. Yoy picked the ideal time for comparison shopping. Dave has the near perfect dime Rol-A-Top active on eBay at present. Dave made a mistake on listing so search for Watlin or Rol-A-Top. So that is an excellent buy. If the one you are looking at is near that price, buy Dave's! If you can save significant money (over $1000) maybe worth pursuing the other dime Rol-A-Top but be careful - careful - careful! Many fake or fiddled with mixed up machines by less than honest sellers. So post as many pictures as you can. You aren't going to find a better Rol-A-Top in dime denomination than Daves so maybe you can tell what we would recommend - hint - hint - hint - - - - -

Please post some photos, if you have any. Also, what are they asking for the dime Rol-A-Top? If there are any obvious errors people in this forum will point them out.

As far as price, we have not discussed that yet. I have a sense that he wants me to throw out the first number. If the machine Dave listed on eBay is any indication of these slots value, I don't know if I can afford it.

Believe me - you do not want to buy a $1500 Rol-A-Top. Think you need to research more before you even consider taking the next step.

And Flipper, Surely you must be joking. Why would you say don't buy a Rol-a-top for $1,500? If you guys want to sell me a rol-a-top for $1,500, PLEASE PM me. I have cash.

Chances - you can go on eBay and probably find a nice fake Rol-A-Top for $1500. My point was if you don't know what a Rol-A-Top is and if you think Dave's nice restored original dime Rol-A-Top is pricey, you probably should not be in the Rol-A-Top market. Do you know what a good real Rol-A-Top sells for?
