What do you think about forming a new coin op club

Postby Dave » Thu Oct 31, 2013 5:50 pm

What are your thoughts about forming a new coin op organization?

The name would be Coin Op Preservation Society (COPS).

In order to join you would have to agree to, at a minimum, not sell reproduction machines or revamp existing machines. If a member joined and it was determined that he/she was not following the rules they could be ejected.

We could come up with a logo and allow members in good standing to use that logo on their websites, business cards, eBay listings and whatever.

The website could also display the eBay ids of all the COPS members that are in good standing.

A special area of this forum would be reserved only for the COPS members.

Let me know what you think.

Hey........Sounds good to me! I always wanted to be a COP, but not kind on the street, because I never believed in "wait til the other guy shoots first". :P
Although this is a good idea, somehow I have that warm & toastie feeling, that there won't be a high volume of members. I know one for sure that is not welcome.

In this age of political correctness and Obamacare, shouldn't we also form a repro club?

I think it is an excellent idea. It would be great to have someone vet the coin op show and the auction house to give machines the stamp of approval. I would join.

OK, based on the initial feedback I have registered the domain www.CoinOpPreservationSociety.com

I have also created the COPS area of this forum as well as created the COPS group.

If you want to be involved in deciding what COPS is all about then please join the COPS group.

To request membership, go to http://www.coinopcollectorforum.com/ucp.php?i=176

The way things have been going these past few years, there will probably be more members in this group! [-X

I would definitely join a club with the stated purpose.

(Dave's invitation to speak at the COCA meeting may soon be revoked.)
