I want a slot machine but don't want to buy a fake.

Is Ebay listing 281190713111 a correct Golden Nugget and rare like the seller states?

The price of $2,200 seems like a good price.

A couple days ago, I asked the Seller (who is a dealer) a couple specific questions concerning the authenticity of this slot.
One would expect an answer from a reputable dealer, but no response so far.

Ask him where the pnumatic handle pump is at the bottom of the slot next to the cash box..... hummmmm on him

1) THERE IS NO PUMP.
2) ORIGINAL NUGGETS HAVE A CASH BOWL THAT GOES ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE FRONT. THIS HAS THE STANDARD HALF TOP STYLE CASH BOWL, AS FOUND ON ANY DIAMOND FRONT, BLACK CHERRY, DIAMOND BAR, ETC. THIS IS WHY THE DOLLS DO NOT GO ALL THE WAY TO THE BASE. ON REAL ONES, THE TRIM PIECE FOR THE PAYOUT CUP GOES BETWEEN THE BASE OF THE DOLL, AND, THE BASE OF THE CABINET. .
3) THERE IS NO CENTER BLOCK UNDER THE PLATFORM THE MECH SITS ON.
4) HARD TO TELL, BUT, THE HAND LOAD JACKPOT HOLE DOES NOT LOOK LARGE ENOUGH FOR A QUARTER TO FIT THROUGH THE HOLE.

I am really surprised this dealer would say this is an original Golden Nugget out of the Golden Nugget casino. It is clearly made up. Although the machine appears to be original, it was probably a Mills Black Cherry that had a repro nugget kit put on it. Other machines of this style that were converted were Golden Falls and the Diamond front. An original high top version exists but easy to spot because the top casting was a Jewel Bell Bonus casting, repros are just a regular high top casting. The conversion kit consisted of nuggets, 2 dolls, award card and reel strips. Hundreds of these kits were made and lots of good machines converted. If you ever see an original nugget, it is easy to spot the conversions. The one piece wrap around pay cup is the easiest way at first glance as mentioned by Midcoast.

This dealer has been in business for umpteen-years, and they know the difference of an original & repro "Golden Nugget" Half Top.
The strange thing about the listing, as it says how original it is, they mention a HIGH TOP, not what you see here. This may have been
an oversite, posting the wrong machine picture, and nobody has informed them as yet. Let alone, checking their own listing.
Guaranteed, the '3 Dollar Bill - Nugget' shown, is definitely a full-blown repro. If someone buys this machine, they may be in for a
huge surprise, when they receive a HighTop.

Another thing that I have always noticed on the repros, is most of the time the Nugget castings are not mounted correctly. Many are
sideways, and others are higher or lower, than on original machines. The high & low factor is due to whatever machine was used to
make the phoney. As the holes for the cherrys on the "Black Cherry" & "Golden Falls" are not in the exact spot as the Nuggets. Then
with using a "Diamond Front", the extra holes have to be filled with Bondo, or chewing gum, whichever. The Dolls will hide the lower
holes, except for maybe the two lowest holes, which are slightly inboard.

It appears to have an original cabinet. The mechanism is from a Hightop.

I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING SINCE 1978- i HAVE ONLY SEEN ONE ORIGINAL GOLDEN NUGGET.
MY GENERAL PROSPECTIVE TO A NEW COLLECTOR, IS JUST AVOID THE GOLDEN NUGGET-
AS A CHOICE FOR YOUR FIRST MACHINE. I WOULD TRUST THE" AVAILABLE FOR SALE" COLUMN
ON THIS SITE IAS YOUR BEST SHOT AT GETTING AN ORIGINAL MACHINE.

i AM 84 HAVE SEEN MANY MANY GOLDEN nUGGETS , TOO MANY TO RELY ON ANYONES
GUARANTEE. HISTORICALLY SPEAKING THEY ARE REALLY A NON-ENTITY IN SLOT

It must be the wrong picture. Description says it is a 5 cent high top and the picture is 25 cent half top.
