Went to the show on Friday saw a table full of Trade stimulators that must have been very rare they all had Jackpots on them.

Yes; I was there this (Saturday) afternoon; the booth belonged to some guy out of Las Vegas;
he only had 4 left; I took some photos will post later.

There were also many nicely restored Golden Nugget slot machines in many of the booths;
it's surprising how many of them survived; must have been a very large casino.

Unfortunately, I only had enough cash for a restored Coca-Cola gum ball machine.

Was there both Friday and today. I'm thinking this will be my last show for a while.....very disappointed at the amount of crap that was being passed off to unsuspecting folks. Less and less coin op, and more and more overpriced junk.

I got your note. I usually go on Friday & Sunday. Sorry I missed you. Did you buy the Coke gumball machine from the booth that you left the note at? If you did you bought a very nice restoration from my friend John.

Just got back home from the show;
actually my previous post in this thread was tongue in cheek;
just so no newbies are misled or confused by my post:

Trade stimulators with jackpots are very desirable collector items PROVIDED THEY ARE ORIGINAL AND AUTHENTIC.
kepmr started off this thread with a comment about a booth at the Chicago show that was full of trade stimulators with jackpots.
I saw the booth that I believe he was sarcastically referring to; the booth of the Las Vegas Butcher had 4 bogus machines, 3 of which had jackpots.
I took some photos that I will post in the morning.

There were many fake Golden Nugget slot machines at the show; I did not see a single original GN.
If you find a GN slot, assume it is a fake until you know how to tell an original one (see info available on other threads of this forum).

Northwestern and Oak never made a Coca Cola gum ball machine (nor did they make a Harley Davidson, Dallas Cowboy, or whatever your favorite sport team is, machine).
Those are not restored machines; they are fantasy machines for the non collector, if a guy wants one of those for his game room, no problem; just so the guy knows what he is buying.



Ron; sorry I missed you; I just went inside the one day. I met John (and the young man helping him, his son, I think) and spoke with him at length; he is very interesting and seems like a great guy.
I did buy a couple of small items I needed from the booth you share, but did not even notice any machines that might have been there.

Hey there has been some great suggestions and a lot of legitimate gripes. I think that it is safe to say that one of the reasons that a lot of coin op isn't at the show is that it disappears as fast as it hits the tables. Also a lot of items are pre sold before the show. I went to the Thursday morning show and because of the weather alloy of people did not set up. But what I did notice was that a lot of them were also doing the inside show too. The tradition of the flea market selling before the show goes back from the beginning of the show at pheasant run....how it was at the other venues was before my time. Basically it was a gold rush to get your space in the parking lot early in the morning and then wit until noon to get inside to set up. So everybody started to unload when they parked to prepare to go in and then of course people started to sell as they waited. This was also the time when the Europeans started to come over to buy.....there were at least twenty plus dealers from overseas buying at the show. And they wanted it all and paid well.it was great fun and profitiable. And the neons and repo signs and butchered and over restored machines were there from the beginning. Well things got of hand and messes were made and not cleaned up plus the management of the resort at that time did not want the flea market happening. So the promoters at that time ordered a clamp down on the event no one was to open their trucks until it was time to move in. It also stopped the wildcat dealers who would drive up with a pickup truck filled with merchandise and sell it all without the event making anything on this. Well then came the pre show at Kane county and that meant selling started Wednesday and then Thursday and then of course at the show . The Kane show is about dead .....four dealers this last time. Then came a return of allowing dealers to sell at pleasent run across the street at the annex building. And as dealers dropped off we have now the present situation with the pre selling before the show..... Half of us hate it and half of us love it .....you can't stop it just regulate it so no one gets hurt.....the situation at the cash registrar show at the holiday inn got way out of hand ...it was too big for the parking lot. We will always have this pre selling before the show so trying to stop it will not happen. It is an important part of the dynamic of the show.
